The blue and white Mediterranean-looking building spiraling like a seashell beneath El Morro is Terra Amata, one of Arica's finest restaurants. Its large windows flood the restaurant with sun during the day and provide a view of the harbor at night. The menu features novo-Chilean dishes made from native fruits. Entrées of meats, including lamb and seafood, come with a choice of sauces. Desserts like Boa Boa, seasonal fruits flambéed in orange liqueur served over cinnamon ice cream, give a perfect end. Open Monday-Saturday 1-3:30 p.m., 8:30 p.m.-1 a.m.
