Bus
Most long-distance buses depart from the Terminal Internacional Rodoviario, whose facilities include bathrooms, showers, phone, internet, snack shops and luggage keep (Avenida Prat and Lynch, Tel.: 41-6315). Exceptions to this include TurBus (Esmeralda 594), Kenny Bus (La Torre 944) and Cuevas y González (Sargento Aldea 850). As well, many companies have offices around Mercado Centenario. On Barros Arana are Pullman Bus, Carmelita, Ramos Cholete, TurBus (ticket office only), Zambrano, Cruz del Norte, Santa Angela and Chacón. On Sargento Aldea are Santa Rosa and Ormeño.
To Arica: $15, 5 hours – Santa Rosa (every 3.5-4 hours 7:20 a.m.-1:45 a.m.). Also Cuevas y González. Only morning buses to Arica leave from the Rodoviario; afternoon runs depart from individual bus depots.
To Calama: $20, 5-6 hours – Pullman Bus (3:45 p.m., 11 p.m.), Kenny Bus (5 p.m., 10:30 p.m., $24-40). Also TurBus.
To San Pedro de Atacama: Go to Calama first, and take a bus from there.
To Santiago and points between: 25 hours – TurBus (hourly 10 a.m.-9 p.m., $75-134 depending on level of service), Pullman (9 a.m., 11:45 a.m., 5:30 p.m., 8 p.m., $56-80), Flota Barrios (8:45 a.m., $60), Carmelita (8 a.m., 2 p.m., 5 p.m., $64), Zambrano (4 p.m., 7 p.m., $66). Also San Andrés.
To Antofagasta: 6 hours – TurBus (same bus as to Santiago, $30-48), Pullman (direct 3:30 p.m., 11 p.m., $20).
To Tocopilla: TurBus (Santiago schedule, $14-32, 4 hours). For Antofagasta and Tocopilla you can also take any Santiago-bound bus that is taking the coastal (not inland) route.
To Santa Laura and Humberstone: Santa Angela ($3.80) or any bus or colectivo going to Pozo Almonte, La Tirana or Pica.
To Huara: Take any bus heading to Arica, $8.
To Pozo Almonte: Chacón ($3.80). Also yellow colectivos from Sargento Aldana (daily 7 a.m.-9 p.m., last return 8:45 p.m., $4).
To Mamiña: Santa Angela (daily 8 a.m., return 6 p.m., $7 one way), Cruz del Norte (Monday-Saturday 8 a.m., 4 p.m., return 8 a.m., 6 p.m, Sunday 8 a.m., return 6 p.m., $7.50).
To La Tirana / Pica: Several companies along the 900-block of Barros Aldana run this route 8 a.m.-9 p.m., including Santa Angela and Chacón ($5 / $5.50). Colectivo taxis from Sargento Aldana and Amantegui ($7 / 8).
To Peru and Bolivia:
International buses from Iquique going to Perú and La, Paz, Bolivia, involves a transfer in Arica. On those services to Uyuni or Oruro, Bolivia, passengers must change in Calama.
To La Paz: Cuevas y González (daily 1:30 a.m., by way of Arica, $30, 14 hours).

Aeropuerto Internacional Diego Aracena is 40 kilometers (24 mi) south of the city (Tel.: 42-0349 / 41-0787). Lan (Monday-Friday 8:45 a.m.-2 p.m., 3:45-6:30 p.m., Saturday 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Tarapacá 465, Tel.: 600-526-2000, URL: www.lan.com) – Arica (one flight daily, $63 round trip), Santiago (5 daily, $127-193), Antofagasta (once daily, $63 round trip); also to Santa Cruz and La Paz, Bolivia. One way flights are more expensive than round trip.
