The major attractions for many are the vistas and the wildlife. But aside from the natural wonders of PN Lauca are ruins and Aymara villages. Las Cuevas has wetlands and archaeological remains. Parinacota, an indigenous-colonial village famous for its church and weaving, is a convenient starting point for hiking to the Bofedales de Parinacota and climbing Guane Guane. Easily accessible, Lago Chungará is a birdwatcher’s paradise. At these three sites are interpretive trails. A longer trail that can be walked or driven in car goes from the Chucuyo settlement to Laguna Cotacotani, another cradle of immense beauty and bountiful fauna.
