To arrive to Parque Nacional Volcán Isluga from Iquique, take Ruta a-16 to Humberstone, at the junction with Ruta 5 (the Pan-American Highway). Turn north, to Huara (26 km / 16 mi) to the paved Ruta A-55. This goes northwest to Colchane (180 km / 108 mi, 6 hours). The total distance is 250 kilometers (150 mi). From Arica, go south to Huara and follow Ruta A-55 (total distance: 250 km / 150 mi), 5.5 hours). From Colchane to the Sector Enquelga guardería is 15 kilometers (9 mi, 1 hour). There are buses from Iquique to Colchane. If driving, bring extra gasoline. Check tires, brakes and other mechanics before setting out.
