Chakana Mountain Lodge

In Aymara, Chakana means Southern Cross, that constellation that holds the guiding star for this hemisphere. Chakana Mountain Lodge is such a star for journeyers to Putre, leading them to a warm welcome, cozy rooms and good food. Located at the outskirts of town, about a 10-minute walk from the plaza, this eco-lodge has both cabins and a four-bed dorm room. To keep guests warm on cold nights, heaters and feather comforters are provided. The kitchen-dining room is a sunny space where tea is served at any hour. Marisol and George speak English, French, German and Spanish, and are very knowledgeable about the area. Chakana is a member of Fair Chile, a network of ecologically sound businesses.

Getting There:
From the plaza, follow Carrera towards the military base at the outskirts of town.Turn right and after 50 meters, take a left. Further down is a road that goes directly to Chakana (750 meters). Signs show the way.
