Tourism and Other Offices:
The tourism information office isn't very helpful, but it does have a good map of the city (Monday-Thursday 8 a.m.-1 p.m., 2:30-7 p.m., Friday 8 a.m.-2 p.m. On the Calle Prat side of the main plaza). Conaf provides information on Parque Nacional Lauca and other area reserves (Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-1 p.m., 2:30-5:30 p.m. Teniente del Campo, between Latorre and O'Higgins). The carabinero post is on the corner of Riquelme and Condell streets. Information about Putre’s history and festivals can be read at: pueblo-de-putre.blogspot.com.
Money:
Banco del Estado is the only money game in town. It exchanges cash US dollars and Euros. Its ATM, accepting MasterCard and Cirrus, is accessible only during business hours (Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-2 p.m.).
Communications:
There are only two internet places in town. The better one is Tecnicom, charging $0.80 per hour; it also has international phone service for $0.60 and up per minute (daily 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Canto, between Latorre and Riquelme). Another ciber café is on the corner of Lynch and Baquedano. The centro de llamadas on the Prat side of the plaza has irregular hours. Correos de Chile is on Carrera, between Baquedano and O´Higgins.
Medical:
Putreños rely on the Consultorio General Rural Putre, which does have an ambulance (Baquedano 261). Putre has no pharmacy. The general stores have basic medicines. For anything heavy duty, try the health post.
