Chelagarto is one of the cheapest hostels in Viña. With 70 beds, it is also one of the best places to go if you want to meet up with other travelers.

The hostel is located in a beautiful old house with high ceilings and wooden floors. There is a large garden that is perfect for sunbathing and barbeques.

There is also a bar that hosts parties or themed dinners every night. Breakfast is included and the hostel has free wifi.

The dorm rooms are crowded with bunk beds and there isn’t much room for personal belongings. If you pay in Chilean pesos instead of dollars, they will try to charge you the 19% local tax.

Get any bus that is going to Valparaiso and get off at the flower clock (near the Sheraton Miramar). Cross the road and head for Calle Chaigneau. Diego Portales runs off Calle Chaigneau.
