Bogotá Hotels

From chic boutique hotels to homey backpacker hostels, Bogotá caters to every budget, as you would expect from a major capital city. In La Candelaria, you will find a large number of budget hotels and hostels set in charming restored buildings. Options in this neighborhood have tripled in recent years and range from the calm and quiet, where you can sleep peacefully, to the raucous, where you can party until dawn with your new backpacker friends. Family-run establishments and luxury options tend to do business in the historic center and further north. Bogotá also has a number of good-value places to stay, as well as several global luxury chain hotels near the airport. Updated: Jun 25, 2010.

Budget and Mid-range

A little goes a long way at budget hotels in Bogotá: most have excellent extra services, such as on-site cafés, bars and restaurants, and rooms have a host of amenities, including WiFi. Bogotá’s budget and mid-range hotels lie in La Candelaria and scattered across the city. Private rooms cost between $15 and $50, depending on your level of comfort; dorms can be found for as low as $10. The Chapinero neighborhood has a few inexpensive, basic hotels options, which provide great access to the sights in La Candelaria and the hip nightlife of Zona Rosa. Bogotá B&Bs, while generally more expensive ($50 a night on average), offer relaxed accommodation in quaint residences. B&B rates are lower for longer stays.

High-end
Luxury hotels in Bogotá tend to do business in La Candelaria and the business district. Old homes in the historic center have been reborn as posh boutique hotels ($60-200 per night), and feature extras such as spas and pizzerías; meanwhile, high-end hotels in the Samper and Rosales neighborhoods charge in the hundreds for a night’s stay, and are within walking distance of Zona T and Parque de la 93.

Independent Lodging
Colombian families in Bogotá offer homestay options, with meals often included in the price. Nightly rates for a private room are around $40, and the price decreases the longer you stay. If you’re planning to stay in Bogotá for several weeks or more, there are many affordable private apartments throughout the city. From studios to multi-room apartments, longer-term accommodations in Bogotá are fully furnished and come with added bonuses like WiFi, swimming pools and fitness center access. Bogotá newspapers are a good place to find information on apartment rentals.
