The Quinta, not far from the Univeridad de los Andes in the Candelaria, is perhaps best known as Simon Bolivar's most stable residence in his adult life - he spent 423 days here, though not continuously. The elegant hillside mansion, with its well preserved gardens, European architecture and courtyards, was a gift to Bolivar from the Colombian State and he remained as the soul owner for 10 years. Over the years the Quinta changed hands and was even owned by a brewery before being bought back by the State for the purpose of creating a museum. Tours take in the key rooms, pointing out interesting antiquities such as Bolivar's bed and other objects from that era.
