Samper
If you take the Hotel Tequendama as a reference point or are visiting the Museo Nacional, then you are standing in the small but perfectly located district of Samper. Samper is filled with fancy restaurants that cater to a highly paid clientele on weekdays while La Macarena is up the hill behind the Museo Nacional and beyond the Plaza de Toros. In La Macarena you can find eclectic, artsy shops and funky restaurants and bars. Residents of La Macarena are probably what one describes as “alternative,” and they are battling to keep their area this way. Bohemian and funky alike head here for a chilled glass of wine or cocktail before wandering idly into one of the many art galleries.
