Colombia offers many variations on the stereotypical relaxing and tranquil spa vacation. There’s the spa getaway of a quick facelift or tummy tuck, but if you want to indulge in the local specialty, cacao, try the choco-therapy at the Thermaé Spa at the Hotel Opera (571 336 2066) in Bogotá. The New York Times calls Casa Boutique Veranera (57 5 664 1111) in Cartagena “a jewel box of a hotel with a spa and yoga studio.” Many of the Radisson Hotel & Resorts throughout the country, especially in Bogotá, have massage rooms. Take care of any medical or wellness treatments at the Skin Medspa (571 7582813) in Bogotá. Soak in the scenery and the hot springs at the Termales de Santa Rosa de Cabal (57 096 3645500), west of Bogotá, though spa treatments are only offered on the weekends. Don’t skimp on the insect repellent during beachside massages or meditation sessions at Playa Koralia (57 310 6422 574). Lastly, while in Medellín, don’t miss out on treating your tootsies –for free– to the foot spas in the Parque de los Pies Descalzos.
