Tourism Office
Barichara’s tourism office, Oficina de Cultura, Turismo y Deportes, is located on the second floor of the alcaldía building on the main square. It is very helpful and provides excellent, bilingual maps of that town and of Guane (Monday-Thursday 7:30 a.m.-noon, 2-6 p.m., Friday 7:30 a.m.-noon, 2-4 p.m. Calle 5 6-39, Tel: 7-726-7052, Web: www.baricharavive.com, www.patiamarillo.com). On weekends, a tourism information booth is set up across the street at the base of the flagpoles.


Money
On the church side of the plaza is an ATH / Megared ATM machine, accepting all cards (save American Express). If you are relying on travellers cheques, your nearest provider for this service is in Bucaramanga or Tunja. There are no official exchange houses.


Keeping in Touch
The main Telecom office, providing phone service for local, national and international calls, is a half-block from the Templo de la Inmaculada Concepción (Monday-Saturday 7 a.m.-10 p.m., Sunday and holidays 7 a.m.-9 p.m. Carrera 7 4-73). Telecom’s internet service is three blocks away, near the Casa del Mercado; it charges $1.05 per hour (Monday-Saturday 9 a.m.-9 p.m., Sunday 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Calle 7, between Carreras 6 and 7). Adpostal, the post office, is also a half-block from the main plaza, at Carrera 6 4-90 (Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-noon, 2-6 p.m.).


Medical
Barichara’s Hospital Integrado San Juan de Dios is on Carrera 2, between Calles 3 and 4 (Tel.: 7-726-7400). Several pharmacies are found on or near the main square.
