While out in Girón on a daytrip, you may want to take back a reminder of your visit. Look up María Pinto. With hands scarred from the resilient material she works with, she’ll show you the hats, belts, bags, shoes and sandals she crafts from fique, a palm fiber. All are her own original, innovative designs. Call first before arriving at her workshop, if you don’t find her stall set up on Girón’s main square.
