Pizzaría Asturias

On this Friday evening a cooling breeze sways the palms lining this verandah in time to the music drifting from the inner sanctuary of Pizzaría Asturias. My finger lazily rounds the curvatures of a wine glass, thinking about a pizza baked in a wood-fired oven that soon will be arriving at this table. It was hard to decide which of the 14 pies to order ($2.50-14), almost half of which are vegetarian, including one of bocadillo (guava paste) and cheese, and the Tutifruti, adorned with apple, peach, plum, pineapple and cheese. Ah, the marinera - chipi-chipi and róbalo fish, squid, shrimp and clams - sounds delightful. But I’ve settled for a simpler creation. Pizzaría Asturias isn't just about pizzas though - it also prepares breakfasts ($2-4), almuerzos ejecutivos ($3.20) and à la carte dishes ($5.50-17). Open daily 8 a.m.-10 p.m.
