Swiss-owned Repostería Berna is a time-honored place to have a morning treat or afternoon tea. Select a table on one of the three stories (or on the second-floor balcony facing the pedestrian street), and try to decide which of the tasty sweets you'll try this day. Will it be petits-fours, cakes or cookies ($0.45-$1.45)? Perhaps ice cream - whether solo or as a sundae or banana split ($1-2.25). To complement your treat, choose coffee, tea, juice or soda ($0.30-$1.35). For something a bit more substantial, there are tamales, sandwiches, empanadas and other goodies. Stop off at the bakery to take home some bread or goat-milk cheese or yoghurt. Open Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-noon, 2-6:30 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m.-6:30 p.m., closed Sunday and holidays.
