Bucaramanga has some mighty fine eats at good prices. A comida corriente, the set-menu, costs $1.60-2.65 at most establishments. Even a premium meal needn't cost you the proverbial arm and a leg; a repast with wine will set you back $10 or more. The variety of foods reflects the internationally diverse population of this city. For those staying downtown and eating meals in, an Éxito Vecino is at the corner of Calle 36 and Carrera 16. Also be sure to embark on the adventure through Plaza Central, Bucaramanga’s market, reputed to be the largest in Colombia.
Nightlife
Bucaramanga has quite a lively nightlife, but mostly on weekends. Bars near the universities, though, are open every night. The once-fashionable Zona Rosa (between downtown and Carrera 30) is now mostly strip joints. The happening scene now has shifted to the neighboring Cabecera district, most clubs are along Carrera 33. Highly recommended ones these days include La Calle, which features mainly Colombian music and meringue, and Mi País.
