The Casa de la Cultura Piedra del Sol takes its name from a mysterious piece sheltered within its courtyard: a boulder carved with spirals and circles. The creators of this work were the Guane, a Chibcha-speaking nation that occupied the Santander region from the seventh century B.C. to the 16th century A.D. Inside, the Museo Arqueológico Regional Piedra del Sol, also known as Museo Arqueológico de los Guanes, presents an impressive collection of textiles, pottery, jewelry and others objects in well-displayed exhibits with excellent explanations on their use and significance.
