You see them for sale all over Colombia, these Malagueño sweets. Now you can get them direct from Panucha’s main store: candies lemon or mandarin rind, or a breva (fig) wrapped around a ball of pure arequipe; cocadas (coconut nuggets), alfajores (a delicate cookie sandwich filled with arequipe and edged with coconut) or sugar-coated gummies in a variety of fruit and other flavours (even celery!) What’s a panucha? Arequipe whipped with coconut to a soft delectable bit of heaven. There are even jars of homemade arequipe (soft caramel) and jams. Oh, I forgot the chocolates. If you can’t quite make up your mind, choose a sample of goodies.
