Tourism Office
The Oficina de Información Turística de los Andes, Málaga’s tourism office, is in the Casa de la Cultura Simón González Reyes (Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-noon, 2-6 p.m. Corner, Calle 13 and Carrera 10). Saturdays and vacation times you can find the staff, composed largely of SENA tourism students, at a booth on the main square, dispensing information about not only Málaga, but also Capitanejo and neighboring villages.
Money
The two major banks in town, Bancolombia and Banco Popular, are located across from each other on Calle 12, between Carreras 7 and 8. Their ATMs handle MasterCard, Visa, Cirrus, Plus. AN ATH, multi-network ATM is at Carrera 8 13-38. There is no place to cash travellers cheques, nor any casas de cambio, nor branches of Western Union or Moneygram.
Keeping in Touch
Telecom provides local and national phone calls for $0.10 per minute and international from $0.25 per minute (Monday-Saturday 8 .am.-noon, 2-7 p.m. Calle 12, between Carreras 6 and 7). Adpostal, the post office, is located in the same building (Monday-Friday 7 a.m.-noon, 2-6 p.m., Saturday 7 a.m.-noon). Internet cafés are a bit scarce in Málaga. All charge $0.80 per hour. None have Skype. The largest one, and with the most reliable service, is in Cafetería y Frutería El Virrey (Monday-Saturday 8:30 a.m.-noon, 2:30-9:30 p.m., Sunday 6-9 p.m. Carrera 8 12-30, Parque García Rovira).
Medical
Málaga’s main medical facility is Hospital Santo Domingo (Calle 16 and Carrera 7, Tel: 7-660-7475 / 660-7494). Around Parque García Rovira are several major-brand pharmacies; others can be found on Carrera 8.
Camera
There are scant camera stores to be found in Málaga. None repairs camera, and film is limited. Most shops are devoted to taking cédula (ID card) photos or processing. Foto Art has some camera accessories and 100 ASA color and black-and-white rollitos (film) (Carrera 9, between Calles 13 and 12). Some drugstores also carry film.
