Between Pamplona and Bucaramanga is a spur road at La Laguna that goes south to the small village of Silos. Surrounded by the foothills of the Cordillera Oriental, Silos is rich in minerals, including marble, coal and limestone. Its inhabitants also weave woolen blankets and ponchos. The countryside is dotted with lagoons, some of which offer the fisher a try at trout. Other attractions include pre-Columbian tombs, the Museo Cacique Magará and hot springs. Horseback riding is another possible activity for the visitor.
