Pamplona preserves the beauty of its colonial buildings, unlike many Colombian cities. The churches house many relics which have become the center or worship. Several colonial homes have become museums, like the Museo de Arte and the Casa Colonial. Other edifices of the era not to miss on your stroll around Pamplona are Casa de Doña Águeda Gallardo (Calle 5 and Carrera 6), Casa de las Cajas Reales (Carrera 5, between Calles 4 and 5) and the Casa del Mercado, formerly a Jesuit School (Calle 6 and Carrera 5). Around Pamplona are a number of villages offering crafts, museums, hot springs and natural beauty that are worthy of day trips. Among these are Silos, Cácota, Chitagá, Mutiscua and Pamplonita.
