Even though Güicán has considerably less tourist infrastructure than El Cocuy village, it does have several attractions near-by: Peñol de los Muertos, where U’wa jumped to their deaths upon the arrival of the Spaniards; an incredible monument honoring that indigenous nation; petroglyphs, or rock paintings; and several hot spring pools. An alternative path to Cueva de Cuchumba, near Hacienda La Esperanza within the national park, can be hiked from Güicán. It begins at the end of Carrera 4, at Calle 1. Ask directions frequently for La Capilla, as the camino is unsigned.
