Mid Range Restaurants in Parque Nacional Natural El Cocuy

By Lorraine Caputo

All lodges within PNN El Cocuy serve meals, usually of the high-starch variety. Campers pitching their tents at such establishments may be able to use the kitchen, depending on the inn's policies. Otherwise bring along a camp stove.

If backcountry camping, purchase all necessary food and fuel supplies in the nearest villages before venturing to El Cocuy National Park. You may be able to buy some items from locals, but don't bank on it. On the eastern side of the range live very few people. White gas is scarce in all of Colombia, so stock up on it in Bogotá or Bucaramanga or bring a stove that uses multi-fuel or canisters. “Gasolina roja” (car petro) is available at the gas stations in El Cocuy village and Güicán.
