Don't forget to pack your rod and reel when coming to Parque Nacional Natural El Cocuy. You can whip loose your fly and take a hand at the trout swimming in the icy depths of Laguna Grande de Pachacual, Laguna de la Parada, or in the rivers slicing the páramo. To fish in the lagoons, you must have a permit (obtainable from the national park office in El Cocuy village). To cast a line into the rivers, no special permission is needed. Also, some of the lodges at the edge of the park have stocked ponds. Ah, what a perfect way to end a day of trekking and climbing than with a succulent pan-fried trout!

Within the national park, mountain climbing, trekking, rock climbing and paragliding. In Güicán, the Camino Deshecho and petroglyphs, Aguas Termales (hot springs) and more hiking opportunities.
