By Lorraine Caputo

The new Jardín Botánico José Joaquín Camacho Lago on the southeast side of the city is a center for the study and preservation of Andean endangered flora species. Stroll through these 33 hectares (81 acres) that have been set aside and learn about the eco-systems of the Colombian Andes. This is a good introduction before your trekking in Parque Nacional Natural El Cocuy or other parts of the region.
