The tourism office, Dirección de Cultura y Turismo de Tunja, has excellent maps of the city and information on hotels (Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-noon, 2-6 p.m. Closed Saturday and Sunday. Carrera 9 19-70, Casa del Fundador, Plaza Bolívar, Tel: 8-742-3272). On the other side of the plaza is the Secretería de Cultura y Turismo of Boyacá Department; it has information on festivals and other cultural events and on attractions all over Boyacá (Carrera 10 19-17, Tel: 8-742-6547, E-mail: cultura.turismo@boyaca.gov.co). You can obtain maps at the Instituto Geográfico Agustín Codazzi (Monday-Friday, 8-11:15 a.m., 1:30-4 p.m. Calle 18 11-31, Banco Agrario building).
DAS (immigration) has an office in Tunja where you can get visa extensions (Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-noon , 2-5 p.m. Calle 20 7-38).
