Perhaps because of its proximity to the nation's capital to attractions popular amongst Colombians, Tunja has more tour operators than other small cities. A tremendous pride in the riches of Boyacá Department is another impetus to the recent growth of this industry. Besides the obligatory tours to Villa de Leyva and Paipa, a number of circuits to villages and natural sites are being promoted. You can also arrange a trip to Parque Nacional Natural El Cocuy from Tunja. The majority of guides only speak Spanish; it is possible, yet expensive, to hire a translator.
