Things to Do in Villa de Leiva

+ Add a Photo

By Lorraine Caputo

Villa de Leyva has a richness of activities little found in other parts of Colombia. Besides the village itself being a masterpiece of colonial architecture with artisan workshops and historical, art and science museums, the countryside encases fossils, petroglyphs, ancient ruins, vineyards and religious centers. Its intense natural beauty spreads across deserts, tropical forests and páramo, embracing 112 waterfalls and the Santuario de Flora y Fauna Iguaque. If you like betting on the ponies, catch the thoroughbred racing at the Hipódromo.
