Shopping
Villa de Leyva is a place for shopaholics. On the portal side of the Plaza Principal, there are three stores dispensing tons of souvenirs. For unique crafts, stroll down Carrera 9 and Calle 13, both pedestrian malls.
On Carrera 9, between the plaza (Calle 13) and Puente El Real are many boutiques selling weavings. There is also an antique shop. On the left side of this lane is Casa don Juan de Castellanos with eight artisan shops, including Manos Colombianas and several jewelers. Just a few doors down is La Guaca with gourmet bistros, woven goods and an antique store.
Many of the artisans on Calle 13 between Carrera 7 and 8 also specialize in weaving, though there are other shops of interest. Maestro Reinaldo López, one of the village’s most noted painters, has a gallery (Calle 13 7-97). For leathers, visit Ricardo Luna (Calle 13 7-54). For fine home details, check out Decorando (Calle 13 7-35). Taller de Joyería Oro y Plata has exquisite silver and gold jewelry (Calle 13 7-52).
