Like the other 12 municipalities in the department of Quindío, the weather in Salento is always temperate if not cool. There is more rain in March, April, September, and October. Other times of the year, t-shirt and jean weather will suit you just fine.
There is a major festival called “Palma de Cera,” which is the national tree that resides in the area. This festival is held every year from January 5-12 in celebration of the founding of the city. Some interesting contests highlighting Salento’s lack of technology are held, as well as theater and cultural events. At this time, you will also lay eyes on the biggest fried patacón.
