Esperanza Polanco forms clay by hand into wonderful candlesticks and lamps, chess sets and nativity crèches, mysterious masks, figurines and miniature scenes. She does tiles also, of original patterns--whether from her own imagination or yours. This small, crowded shop additionally has works by other Patojo artisans, or from neighboring Patia village. There are woven ruana ponchos and bags, wrought iron work, basketry and other domestic wares from vegetable fibers. If you can't come to Popayán for Easter Week, you can take home a miniature Semana Santa procession. Whatever item you purchase is guaranteed to be an exclusive design of high quality.
