Popayán has offers visitors not only great Colombian food and parrillas (barbecue), but also an impressive selection of international food. Many eating establishments are closed on Sunday, and even more so on Sunday evening. Almuerzos and comidas corrientes range from $1.10-$3.70, averaging $1.60; the cheapest can be found on Calle 8, between Carreras 5 and 6. September is chonta duro season, a palm fruit that is served with salt and honey. Pick up one from the many street vendors. If you are self-catering, you can pick up on supplies at the daily market at Calle 8N and Carrera 6, or at the Ley supermarket (Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-8:30 p.m., Saturday 8 a.m.-9 p.m., Sunday and holidays 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Carrera 5 6-33).

Whether your taste is for dancing to the latest salsa and reggaeton vibes, or to Latin golden oldies, or just chilling over a glass of wine and listening to cool jazz and bossa nova, you will find a place to sit and relax after a day catching the sights of Popayán. Many nightclubs, discos and bars are located right in the Historic Center, so you will not have to worry about catching a cab home.
