Through the open door of workshop on the road to the Parque Arqueológico, sunlight dapples the white-washed adobe walls of a small workshop. Within, strands of vejuco alín, a plant fiber, wave through the air as don Segundo weaves them into baskets and vases. Many times he carefully threads a bead onto the filament, adding colorful touches to his original creations. Also leaning against these ancient walls are hand-carved bamboo walking sticks, the perfect item to steady your pace as you hike to San Agustín’s many wonders.
