San Agustín: When to Go

+ Add a Photo

By Lorraine Caputo

November, December and January are the best months to visit San Agustín, as there is less rain. July and August experience winds and cool temperatures. Rain is common the rest of the year, the wettest months being September-October, and February-March.

San Agustín is once more gaining popularity amongst Colombians as a vacation destination. Keep this in mind if traveling there at these times (July-August, December-January Semana Santa and three-day holiday weekends).

San Agustín's principal patron saint is Saint Augustine, whose feast day is 28 August. The village also commemorates San Pedro in June. Three noteworthy festivals take place here: In October is the Encuentro Nacional de Cultura, the National Cultural Encounter, and in November the Feria Equine (Horse Fair) and the Feria Artesanal y Comercial, highlighting the artisan and other production of the region.
