By Lorraine Caputo

The candle’s light gleams off the glass covering the red-clothed table. The bowl of hearty soup has already arrived, and soon the main plate will be here. The Asadero y Restaurante of the Hotel Colonial fixes up one of the best comida corrientes—whether bresakfast, lunch or dinner— in San Agustín, and at one of the better prices to boot, only $1.85. For those who prefer something a bit lighter, skip the soup and it’ll cost $1.60. The Asadero also has specialty dishes: chicken breast, catfish, mojarra fish, trout, pork and beef steak hot off the grill ($6.50-8).
