Las Piramides

Location:
Tierradentro, Colombia

Monument

By Brenda Yun

Las Piramides is the ideal place to film something like “Indiana Jones” or any action-adventure movie. Most tourists do not budget enough time for a visit here, but if you have an afternoon free, you should stop by for a visit. On the way back, do a little browsing at the artisan store, which stocks handmade and naturally colored crafts, sweaters and bags.

Find guides Pedro or José, who linger around Hospedaje Ricabet or the hotel next door. They require a $8 rental fee for motorcycle transport there and back, plus a $2 guide fee. There is no official entrance fee to see Las Piramides, but you should tip the caretaker $1, since they supply the tunnel lights and general upkeep of the place. All of these fees are well worth a visit to a very unknown but spectacular site and view of the countryside.

Price Description: tip the caretaker (about $1)
