Tierradentro Safety
The area is safe for hiking, even alone; however, locals will advise you not to walk at night. Further afield, deep into the mountains, the FARC is present, but never reportedly in the Tierradentro region itself. Transportation can be dangerously overcrowded. To guarantee a seat, go into San Andrés to catch transport out of Tierradentro; from La Plata to Tierradentro, buy your ticket in advance.
