In the rooms of Casa Museo Gabriel GarcÃa Márquez, the future Nobel Prize winning author was raised by his grandparents, Coronel Nicolás Márquez MejÃa and doña Tranquilina Iguarán. After several years of careful reconstruction based on the testimonies of neighbors and writings of the GarcÃa Márquez clan, the house has been restored to its early-20th century essence. The 14 rooms exhibit grandfather ‘s silver workshop and office, the kitchen where Gabo sat listening to his grandmother’s tales of this land, which later would be known as Macondo, and the bedroom of the famed writer.
