By Lorraine Caputo

Barranquilla’s Zoological Garden is said to be one of the best on the continent. The majority of its resident animals (there are more than 140 species) come from Colombia’s Caribbean region, and others from other parts of the country and world. Among its denizens are spectacled bears, manatees, flamingos, condors, lions, chimps and white-faced monkeys. For the kiddies, there’s a petting zoo. But the Jardín Zoológico doesn’t only present fauna species. This is additionally the Botanical Garden, preserving species from the Atlántico Department.
