For the free admission, you can’t go wrong visiting this informative and surprisingly educational gold museum. The museum is nicely curated and features pre-Colombian gold from the Zenú tribes that resided in what is now central Colombia. The gold on display here explains that it was used for ceremonies and particularly to bury the dead. In the Zenú tradition, gold was placed in urns, then the urns were buried under trees to symbolize fertility and new life. One wing on the second floor explains the agriculture and resources during pre-colonial times. A six-minute video in your choice of English, French, or Spanish, describes how canals were built for agricultural purposes.
