Teatro de Heredia

If you are a fan of interpretive arts, the Teatro de Heredia is a place not to be missed. Located in Plaza de la Merced in the old city, this theater was built in the 19th century on top of the ruins of a convent. Its original neo-classical style imitated the famous European theaters of the time and housed artistic and cultural activity. The theater has since been remodeled, but it remains the epicenter for theater, ballet, folkloric dance, and performances.
