Particularly popular among foreigners, this German restaurant and bakery still draws its fair share of local devotees. The a la carte menu is extensive, offering varieties of bread and desserts, as well as pastas, salads, sandwiches and drinks. Amazingly, Bistro continues to draw crowds despite its openness and lack of air conditioning. Customers willingly sit amidst whirling fans to take coffee and eat a snack while reading a book from their small bookshelf of multi-language reads. If you can't bear the heat, you can order take out and, if you're desperate, they will deliver the food to you in El Centro. The food is very homely and tasty. Some locals swear their desserts are to die for. Expect to pay about $6, $8, and $10 respectively for breakfast, lunch, and dinner specials, which are posted outside on the chalkboard.
