Coveñas

The more amiable and interesting area of Coveñas township is Segunda Ensenada of Punta de Piedra. This horseshoe-shaped bay extends over 2 kilometers (1.2 mi) north to the mouth of Ciénaga de Caimanera. Over a dozen hotels and even more restaurants line the white-sand beach. The Golfo de Morrosquillo here is shallow for a long ways out to sea.

Mornings by the sea are calm, but the sea breezes are at full gust by noon. The ocean the warmest you will find in all of South America. Combined with the hot tropical sun, it will feel more like a Jacuzzi. Several pleasant days can be spent without notice here, as time somehow slips its way through your fingers. Colombians mob the beach on the weekends, while the weekdays often see empty sand and sea.

The actual town of Coveñas is six kilometers (3.6 mi) down the road. It has Internet and other basic services, but hey, you're at a wonderful beach get-away. Leave your worries behind, kick back and relax your very own coastal paradise.
