At Cañaveral, visitors to PNN Tayrona can learn a bit more about Tayrona culture. Museo Chairama has a 7,000-piece collection of items from that pre-Hispanic culture, displayed in two galleries. The artifacts are from El Pueblito and other sites within the park.
Beginning at the museum, is Sendero Nueve Piedras (Distance: approximately 1 km, Difficulty: easy-medium, Duration: 0.5 hr). The interpretive trail, which cuts through the jungle to nine rocks that the Tayrona nation used for rituals, explains Tayrona cosmology. The hike ends at El Mirador, with great views of the coast.
