Without a shadow of doubt the most impressive activity that the islands have to offer is that of scuba diving. With the prevalence of coral reefs and Caribbean oceans the water is warm, clear and bursting with life. For those who do not dive, qualifying for the PADI certificate is not expensive or you could stick with the easy alternative of snorkelling.
Johnny Cay is the most popular day trip fro San Andres. Located a 20 minute boat ride from the island this stunning palm-lined retreat is ideal for a day’s beaching. Take water and a great deal of sunscreen.
Head to South West bay on Providencia one weekend on a Saturday to see the horse races. Two horses are pitched against one another in a competition that extends the length of the beach. Millions of pesos change hands in bets and the atmosphere is nothing short of electric.
