City Walk
La Loma
Many San Andres Island tours will take you to La Loma, the central hill of the island. A hotel there has the best views: you can see the beautiful Caribbean, known for having seven shades of blue and green, some mangrove swamps, and the city of San Andres at the north end. Nearby, several older homes still show the traditional island architecture: wooden houses, simply framed and airy, with wooden shutters. Also on the top of the hill is the Emanuel Baptist Church, which dates back roughly 160 years: it was founded in 1844 when evangelical missionaries from the south of the United States came to stay. La Loma is home to most of the oldest island families.
There is no admission charge to La Loma.
La Loma is historical: it's where the first people settled the island. Also, you get good views.
