Getting around San Andres

Public buses ($0.80) are the cheapest way to get around the island. The “El Cove” bus passes through La Loma to El Cove; alight at the Baptist church for Morgan's Cave and La Piscinita. The “San Luis” bus goes down the east coast, through San Luis to the Blowing Hole.

Two main taxi companies operate on the island: Mega Taxi (Tel: 512-2222) and Mío Taxi (Tel: 512-4888). Rates are around $5 and are doubled midnight-6 a.m. A trip around the island is about $35.

Another way to see the island is by renting wheels. Choose to go by bicycle ($8 half-day, $14 full day), scooter ($28 per day) or golf cart ($56 full day). Almost a dozen local agencies rent cars, including Portofino Rent-a-Car (Av Nicaragua 1-115. Tel: 512-6954) and Millenium Renta Car (Av Colombia 1A-51. Tel: 512-3114).
