San Andres Island: When to go
Climate & Geography
With a year round Caribbean climate oscillating between 26 and 29 degrees, San Andres is blessed. The island has two seasons, wet and dry. While the dry season (Jan-Apr) can last for anything up to 5 consecutive months it is invariably brought to an end with the commencement of the hurricane season in the Caribbean that spans from late September through to the beginning of December. In this period it is likely to rain more, although rains last anywhere between 10 and 20 minutes and then the sun shows itself once more.
High Season is in December/ January and at Easter and all accommodation and flights will increase in cost.
Holidays and Fiestas
July 20 – Fiesta Patria 20 de Julio. Parades spanning the island and celebrating the culture of the Archipelago.
Aug 7 – Fiesta Patria. Parades and expositions of local colour and gastronomy in the San Luis district.
Oct 12 – Dia de La Raza. Cultural activities displaying riches of the island.
Nov 30 - Fiestas Patronales de San Andres. Celebarations in honour of the island’s patron Saint.
