Hotels in Valledupar tend to be a bit expensive; it is difficult to find an inn in our budget range ($5 or under). Mid-range options are yet fairly basic and have an impersonal feel. Upper-priced choices generally are excellent. On Calle 19 and near the bus terminal on Carrera 18D (Avenida Bolívar) are hospedajes and apartahoteles guaranteeing an ambiente familiar, or family atmosphere. If you are planning to come for the April Vallenato Music Festival, make your reservations as early as December or January.
