Valledupar is most famous for its Vallenato Music Festival. Of course, it has other fiestas when you can also catch some renowned groups live.


January 6 — Día de los Santos Reyes is also the founding of the Spanish city; celebrated with civic ceremonies, a marathon and free Vallenato concerts at the Parque de la Leyenda Vallenata


Easter Week (Semana Santa) — Santo Ecce Homo, the city's patron saint is feted here and in nearby Valencia on Holy Monday; on Maudy Thursday, the penitents and Veronicas have a procession


April — The Festival de la Leyenda Vallenata (Vallenato Music Festival) begins on the last weekend of this month, and continues through the weekend


July — Feria Ganadera (Cattle Fair)
